‘Violence not an answer, retaliation not justice,’ Miyetti Allah tells herders

The management of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Affiliation of Nigeria (MACBAN) has referred to as on herders throughout states of the nation to make sure they don’t resort to violence.

The affiliation’s management whereas addressing its members working in Benue and Nasarawa States urged herders to work in the direction of settling all their disputes with farmers in each states.

Stating that the decision of disputes is a matter of urgency, the Nationwide President of MACBAN, Baba Ngelzarma mentioned this directive is in keeping with President Bola Tinubu’s name for normalcy within the North Central area.

Ngelzarma whereas talking at a stakeholders assembly on Thursday famous the incessant lack of lives and livelihoods because of the lingering disaster between herders and farmers within the area.

He additional counseled the efforts of the federal government at numerous ranges in a bid to revive peace and sanity in states experiencing farmer-herder disaster.

“We should disown and isolate each component inside our ranks that promotes confrontation or criminality. Conflicts over land, water, and grazing have develop into far too frequent, and the results are too dire to disregard. It’s time to change our strategy.

“Let me make it clear: violence just isn’t an answer. Retaliation just isn’t justice. We should now embrace dialogue, empathy, and mutual understanding,” Ngelzarma mentioned.
