From Okey Sampson, Umuahia
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and the other members of the G5 Governors in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would storm Umuahia tomorrow to kick start Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s senatotrial bid as well as the party’s state campaigns.
The event would also be used to unveil the Abia PDP governorship candidate, Prof. Uche Ikonne, his running mate, Okey Igwe and other candidates.
These were made known by Amah Abraham, the Abia North vice chairman and acting publicity secretary of the party during a press briefing in Umuahia .
“Interestingly, the Integrity G5 PDP governors namely, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Dr. Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and the host governor Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu would grace the occasion in person as a mark of respect and solidarity with their brother governor.”
He slammed the critics of the PDP-led government in Abia who had described Abia as poverty and unemployment zone, stating that a recent report by the National Bureau of Statics (NBS) has put a lie to such claims .
“As the PDP unveils its candidates officially, we urge Abians to look at the records of the PDP before it and those of the opposition parties.”
Abraham made it clear that the state PDP has not dumped Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate. “We are still working on the mantra of five over five which means delivering all our candidates.”
He, however, emphasised that Abia PDP believes in getting the best for its members and Abians in general , hence the reason for its agitations.
He encouraged PDP members to maintain unity and deliver all the party’s candidates.
