Dakkada FC defeated high flying Nordic Football Academy 1-0 in a pre-season friendly game as their preparations for the new season enters it’s final lap.
It was a second high profile friendly this month for the Nordic Football Academy lads following a fantastic showing vs Akwa United FC weeks ago.
Coach Umar Danlami tutored Dakkada FC named a strong starting XI for the game in Uyo but that wasn’t a problem for the Nordic Academy youngsters who gave their more illustrious opponents a good fight.
The opening exchanges were even with both sides sizing each other for the soul of the Midfield.
There were chances at both ends but none could get over the goalline with Nordic Football Academy goalkepeer Chukwu Josiah the busiest as he made save after save to ensure it finished 0-0 at halftime.
Dakkada FC will finally get the breathrough in the second half following a defensive mix-up by the Nordic Academy defenders.
The goal sparked life into the game as both teams upped the tempo but for wasteful finishing and excellent goalkepeeping the goals would have been more.
Dakkada FC missed a chance to double their lead from the spot late on as Skipper Aniekan Ekpe missed from 18 yards.
It finished 1-0 in favour of Dakkada FC but the Nordic Football Academy lads will walk off with the experience and satisfaction from a great game, one that will certainly excite Karl Hugo and Kingsley Amunike, co-founders of the Academy.
