The session was convened following a petition by contractors of the Ministry to the Home of Representatives relating to the non-payment of executed contracts, amounting to billions of Naira.

Talking throughout the interactive session, chairman of the committee, Hon. Kafilat Ogbara alluded that the ministry initiated new contracts not captured within the 2023 price range and diverted (N1.5bn) being funds for previous contractors.

She added that the ministry whereas owing contractors, awarded recent contract in 15 states of the federation, equally not captured within the 2023 appropriation.

“Funds for contractors haven’t been disbursed, and there have been situations of fund diversion. How are these contractors imagined to be paid?” she questioned.

She talked about that the Impartial Corrupt Practices Fee (ICPC) is at the moment investigating the ministry over the discharge of N1.5 billion in overhead for November and December 2023.
