The Sultan of Sokoto, Abubakar Sa’advert III has declared Friday, January 31, as the primary day of Sha’aban.
The announcement was made on Thursday, January 30, by the Sultanate Council Advisory Committee on Non secular Affairs and the Nationwide Moon Sighting Committee.

“His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’advert Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto and President-Normal of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), has accepted the report and formally declared Friday, January 31, 2025, as the primary day of Sha’aban 1446AH,” the assertion stated.
It additionally added that the declaration is vital for the Muslim neighborhood as a result of the Sha’aban is the month previous Ramadan, the holiest month in Islam.
It stated, “The declaration ensures uniformity within the Islamic calendar, guiding spiritual observances throughout Nigeria.”
The Sultanate Council urged all Muslims throughout the nation to comply with official bulletins relating to Islamic dates and to arrange themselves spiritually for the upcoming month of Ramadan.
