Gov Lalong please expand Bauchi Junction

Governor Simon Lalong

Bauchi junction is one of the most congested junctions in Jos, the Plateau state capital. The junction connects the roads linking Bauchi, Kano, Zaria, Abuja and Jos metropolis.

Anybody coming from Bauchi, Gombe, Taraba, Adamawa Kano, or Zaria, must go through the junction. The junction is a gateway to the North-east from Abuja, Nasarawa, Kogi, Benue, Kwara, Kaduna.

Nonetheless, the junction is too shallow to the extent that accidents occur daily resulting in the loss of lives and properties of the businessmen operating along the junction. This is because of the huge congestion of both pedestrians and vehicles.

The Bauchi junction is indeed congested to the extent whereby motorists and tricyclics spend more than an hour in the holdup. This results in another holdup in the Zololo and Yantaya junctions; the moment these three junctions are congested, there is no other way that Is passable in Jos as they are the main roads.

The holdup causesa delay for students, especially students in the permanent site of the University of Jos who are going for lectures from the Naraguta hostel along Bauchi Jos road.

Patients who are attending the University of Jos Teaching Hospital from Misata’Ali, Farin Gada, Nicaragua, Babala and Zakaliyo are also affected by the holdup that is a result of the narrowness of the junction.

It is on this premise that I call on Governor Simon Bako Lalong to please expand the junction for the betterment of the good people of Plateau state and Nigeria by extension. This is because many people are benefiting from the road. It will also help in decongesting the major roads in the town.
