Good governance without protection of citizens’ rights deceptive – Makinde

Governor Seyi Makinde Monday said the true test of good governance lies in the ability of the government to deliver policies that protect the rights of the citizens.

The governor stated this at the Human Rights Day organised by Save The Poor And Needy Charity Initiative (SPANCI) held at the House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Ibadan, where he was awarded as the best governor of the year by SPANCI.

Represented by his executive assistant on administration, Reverend Idowu Ogedengbe, the governor stated that good governance without protection of citizens’ rights is deceptive.

Governor Makinde emphasised that any government talking about good governance without protecting the rights of its citizens is only being deceptive.

“The true test of good governance lies in the ability of the government to deliver policies that protect the rights of its citizens,” he said.
