The Nigerian Military has debunked claims of a terrorist assault on the ammunition storage facility in Giwa Barracks in Maiduguri, Borno State capital metropolis.
The Military mentioned the explosion which rocked the ability was brought on by excessive warmth situations within the space and never an assault as steered by many.
In an announcement issued hours after the explosion, the Performing Deputy Director of Military Public Relations, Captain Reuben Kovangiya, mentioned the incident was a response to excessive temperature affection the ammunition saved within the facility.
“The explosion was because of the present excessive temperatures in Maiduguri, which led to the explosion of some munitions,” Kovangiya mentioned.
Noting that the scenario has been introduced underneath management, Kovangiya mentioned there was a coordinated response by the state’s Hearth Service Division and sister emergency company on the facility.
