Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Get together (NNPP) and chief of the Kwankwasiyya motion, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has strongly criticized politicians who defect to rival events after securing electoral victories, calling such actions the “biggest political sin” in a democratic system.
Talking on Friday in Kano whereas welcoming a bunch of recent NNPP members from Takai Native Authorities Space of Kano South to his residence on Miller Highway, Kwankwaso denounced current defections from the NNPP to the All Progressives Congress (APC), together with that of Senator Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila and Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum.
Reflecting on earlier election cycles, notably in 2019 and 2023, Kwankwaso described every political contest as a studying alternative for the motion, which he stated has grown stronger and extra resilient.
He emphasised that the Kwankwasiyya motion stays dedicated to grassroots empowerment and isn’t pushed by {financial} inducements. “This motion is for the folks. It isn’t about cash. Some folks collected spaghetti and N2,000 to elect somebody. However in Kano, the poor stood agency. If it had been left to these promoting their votes, the NNPP wouldn’t have received,” he stated.
Kwankwaso condemned politicians who swap allegiance after benefiting from well-liked assist, branding such strikes as a betrayal of the voters. “That is the very best type of betrayal in a democratic setting.
